I couldn't agree more with the Sheryl. The hills are worth a bike ride, but be advised they are really steep. Very little traffic. Lots of little farms with their gardens and sheds. Beautiful houses too here and there. Worth seeing.
Like stepping back in time! Worth following the winding road through farms where everyone waves and it's all untouched by civilization. Gorgeous river and made for taking pictures. One of the best undiscovered places we found so far!
Hern's Mill bridge was one of the early places of shelter for travelers from VA to Charleston. Herns Mill was part of the original Blue Sulphur Springs Highway, prior to the Midland Trail (now US 60). It was the wagon trail here that made this a safe haven from bad weather and a good crossing with several grist mills located in this area. Herns Mill road has some of the most scenic views in Greenbrier County and offers weather protection in the winter from the strong northwest winds with the ridges of Muddy Creek mountain to the west of the road. Lots of game such as turkey, deer, and trout in the creek! Beautiful!
