Otherwise, this place is really cool. The pathways are clearly marked and the spectacular formations are well lit.
The price, compared to others we have visited, was very reasonable and because we had my son (college student) with us, we all got a discount.
This place was a lot of fun! The only thing that made me take it down to 4 stars is the fact that the stone formations aren't protected very well and years of oily tourist fingers have made them dirty. All the other caves I've visited had strict rules about not touching anything in the cave.
This is a great stop if traveling I-64. Stop in Lewisburg for a bite and the caverns are a few minutes from the exit.
The gift shop is nice and reasonably priced. And the outside is pretty and nicely landscaped.
Great selection of minerals, other gifts, and toys for sale for both families and individuals passing through. They also have a cabinet of brochures for other activities in the area, which is really great for planning the rest of your vacation.
A 45 minute to one hour walk through caverns. Self guided tour, you read the information on plaques.
Formations are all very excellent and in a highly concentrated area. It inspires you to want to explore more caves and caverns to see what other kinds of beauty blossom below the Earth's surface.
Best place to go if you are looking for spontaneous activity. The place is clean and the people are nice. I highly recommend going there if you are in the area!
Not handicap accessible due to narrow walkways and lots of steps. If you could not climb several flights of stairs, you would not enjoy this cavern.
The owners are very accommodating with large tour groups. Very friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. Even the staff is well informed, and if they don't know an answer to a question, they will find someone who does.
There's even a collection of fossils and casts of fossils for us science types who like to take a glance back in time when dinosaurs and trilobites lorded over our earthly domain. Great for children and adults. They even have gem mining!
Really great place. The cave was way bigger than I expected. The paths were good and the signs explaining the formations were great. It was well lit so you can see everything better. Pictures can't capture the beauty your eyes will see.
Outdoor picnic area is plentiful and very scenic. The gravel road is a little disarming, but quaint. Makes you really feel like it's a Lost World you're stumbling into, but it can't be that secluded, because they've got a great music selection in the gift shop!
This is a good place to take primary school (and older) kids if they don’t tend to run around (lots of steps and railings would not prevent them from get of trail.
Some older folks or those with disabilities may have a little difficulty navigating it due to the narrowness of the walkways and the abundance of stairs. I wouldn't recommend this for children under the age of 5 for the same reasons.
